The National Eligibility cum Entrance Examination is also known as "NEET" is a.common entrance examination for the medical aspirants. NEET is conducted to determine the eligibility of the students to get admission for MBBS and other undergraduate medical courses in approved/recognized medical colleges in India and abroad.

It is very interesting that NEET UG is being conducted for a whooping 15 lakh students amid covid scare amid social distancing precautions. The exam was originally scheduled for 3 May, but was pushed to 26 July, and then to 13 Sept. It has been surrounded in a lot of controversy and has faced a lot of opposition from candidates and parents because of evident risk of COVID 19 spread in a exam of this scale. Following precautions have been taken to implement social distancing measures:
  • number of exam centres have been increased from 2,546 to 3,843
  • number of candidates per room has been reduced from earlier 24 to 12
  • arrangements have been made outside examination centres to enable candidates stand with adequate social distancing while waiting
  • Each candidate will be offered a three-ply mask
Students and parents are still voicing to postpone the exam by tweeting with #BanNEET and #NEETisSocial_Injustice. It is feared that many candidates may not be able to appear in the exam due to issues with lock down and transport problems.

We wish all NEET UG aspirants follow all the precautions judiciously and hope they are able to reach their exam centers safely and succeed in the exam.
